Hello folks,
I checked the website out of curiousity for the previously mentioned anniversary shows, which states the following (by now) ...
The JBC begin their 20th year with these European gigs:
Tue, 11 Jun - The Onion - Hamburg , Germany - NOT A GIG! JUST A PARTY Thu, 13 Jun - Club 2 - Munich , Germany Fri, 14 Jun - Hemdendienst - Nüremberg , Germany Sat, 15 Jun - Elfenbein - Bielefeld , Germany Tue, 18 Jun - Klein Stadhuis - Ypres , Belgium Sat, 22 Jun - Logo - Hamburg , Germany
The details for the party ("NOT A GIG! JUST A PARTY") on June, 11th, are as follows ...
What: Live Show
Venue: The Onion
Town: Hamburg, Germany
Date: 11Jun2002
The Butcher Says:
As midnight chimes the band will be 20 years old.
The Onion stays open quite late. For the hardcore only!
Make out of that what you want, but don't count on live music.
The Onion is a "pub" (Gaststa:tte) at Eggerstedtstrasse 37 in 22765 Hamburg
(Altona). The closest tube station is Holstenstrasse, the closest railway
station is either Hamburg-Altona or Hamburg-Hauptbahnhof.

Nice to learn that this is basically in walking distance from my flat. §;^D
If anyone plans to visit Hamburg for the party, consider to see Neil Halstead (formerly of Slowdive and Mojave 3, nowadays more in the vein of Nick Drake) at the Schilleroper before they actually turn 20.
Let me know in case anyone would like to purchase tickets for the show at the Logo in Hamburg on June, 22nd, and I'll point you in the right direction.
Speaking of 20th Anniversary shows, I attended such an event last Saturday at The Spitz in London. The June Brides, who are hopefully fondly remembered by a couple of fellow listees, played a truly magical 20th Anniversary Show and I'd be surprised if they delievered more enjoyable shows in their heyday.
"Sick, Tired And D.R.U.N.K." (The June Brides)
(actually none of these yet, but I'll make sure to work on the latter §;^D)

But more upon the just because
