First, my apologies to the list for the tirade... merely intended it to be a rant. :)

Second, my comments did not apply universally. I guess to just some of the squeakier wheels.

Third, obviously, I'm not advocating spending the rent on a $100 concert ticket or the kids' milk money on these reissues. It just seems that some folks on this list are "choosy beggars" when it comes to JBC stuff. Literally years of bitching and moaning that these old titles are not available, and then when they become available by the grace of Nectar, Vinyl Japan and/or Pat, there still seems to be a lot of discontent and complaining that the things aren't cryogenically remastered by Bob Clearmountain in 6.1 Dolby Surround sound with holographic 3-D renderings of the original studio performances as filmed by Stanley Kubrick.

My guess is that since the Vinyl Japan folks are such JBC fans, they are handling the reissues as lovingly as is practical. I would stake that these packages will be infinitely better to anything that might have emerged from Velvel. I think they deserve a lot of gratitude from everyone on this list for at least making SOMETHING available.

Fourth, someone pointed out that Pat did not want the video done at the Troubador, but that was something of an 11th hour decision. Up until that time, I seem to recall a lot of squabbling and squawking rather than enthusiasm.

Fifth, I have to agree with Brian Damage: "if you want the damn thing, buy the damn thing. If ya don't don't."

But just realize that these issues are likely to be your last best chance to get this music in a legitimate form. I'm guessing the folks who complained about the selection of tracks for "Draining the Glass" just a couple years ago are the same ones who are coughing up $50 or so on eBay to buy it now that it's out of print.

So, now I return you to the "Dream Tribute" topic:

Truck of Fear - Jerry Reed
Racheland - The Cure
Girls Say Yes - Diana Krall
She's a Yo-Yo - New Duncan Imperials
Partytime - The Aluminum Group
Devil is My Friend - Marty Stuart
Caroline Wheeler - Monster Magnet
Diamorphine - Lou Reed
Mr Odd/My Name is Luka Medley - Pat Fish/Suzanne Vega Living in a Village - Violent Femmes
Penguins - Bjork

Over and out...
