Amen to that, Brother! AKA - My two cents

Amen to Gary McBride's comments!

It is indeed a great day when "Scandal in Bohemia" is reissued!

I'm actually GLAD that it now stands alone. The Glass package with "Sex and Travel" was an unlikely graft. It didn't quite feel as coherent as each one on its own. And it didn't have that great Hunt Emerson cover artwork.

"Scandal In Bohemia" is a classic album and deserves to stand on its own on CD
for the first time in history!

Great day!

Which brings up another point by "Mike" about a month ago about compiliations...

I am not a great fan of the compilations, either, for one reason... The JBC in my mind is an ALBUMS band. Each work by these gentlemen stands on its own as a complete package, with its own strengths, weaknesses and unique flavor. Think of "Cult of the Basement," "Distressed Gentlefolk," "Condition Blue," or even
"Rotten Soul." The sound quality, the themes, even the particular milestones
of Pat's developing brain are all unique to the albums. It seems almost a sacrilege to mix songs from them in a compilation, (particularly when the original packages aren't available). The result is almost like a tuna fruit salad!

Which hasn't stopped me from getting them all...

By the way, here's a link to the front page of Vinyl Japan, where, in my browser at least, a nice pop-up window highlights the new JBC dis***..

But what's all this about "raw" compositions??
