ECCENTRIC Northampton composer/musician The Jazz Butcher will be putting the finishing touches to his debut LP in a London studio this weekend.

The album, The Jazz Butcher in Bath of Bacon, could well be out on the Glass label by the end of the year.

J.B. (real name Pat Fish) played me a very promising demo of the LP this week over a couple of been at his otherwise empty Northampton flat.

Apologising

"I think the recording has come out quite, well, though I still find myself apologising to everybody about the tapes," he admitted.

Among the tracks on the new album are classics like Love Kittens (the favourite for the first single) Grey Flanelette, plus of course Bath of Bacon.

It's eccentric jazz flavured pop, with Influences of Syd Barrett, Lou Reed and an obscure French singer called Charles Trenet, the Jazz Butcher claims.

"It's not a comedy record, but 1 want people to smile and enjoy It" he added.

The Jazz. Butcher also hopes to meet the people in New York at Easter, playing enough concerts there to raise the air fare home again!

His two major hobbies at the moment are writing songs for LP number two and feeding spaghetti to the ducks in Abington Park.

Listen out for the new Jazz Butcher LP. It sounds like a goody to me, and is quite different from anything else on the current pop market.

Bath Of Bacon
It's really just the sound of a few mates failing to take seriously the fact they they've got an l.p. to make. It seems VERY early eighties now, but you must remember that there was a LOT of crap for us to clear out of the way in those days.
