Yes, it would be great to have these obscurities available on CD, but are muffled demos and live cover versions really going to bring the JBC any new fans? If someone had tried to turn you on to the JBC by playing ALMOST BROOKLYN, do you think you'd have given them a second chance?

That said, SPOOKY should certainly be there, and the version of GROOVING IN THE BUS LANE from the vinyl *Big Questions* also has a lot to recommend it. But why a live version of SWEET JANE when one could be recommending GIRLS SAY YES? Why CHRISTMAS WITH THE PYGMIES rather than PINEAPPLE TUESDAY?

One could continue, but you get the point?

Michael

I guess it depends on who Creation thinks is going to buy the comp--new fans or old? Since the JBC are only sporadically-at-best in existence anymore, I don't see the point in trying to drum up a new fan base...and besides, all of the singles and best songs have already been compiled 48 times or so. They're not hard to find. In other words, yeah, I agree that PINEAPPLE TUESDAY is a much better song than CHRISTMAS WITH THE PYGMIES, but there are already a bunch of places to hear it.

Maybe I'm just being selfish, but at this point in their careers, I'd argue that a comp aimed at 'completists' would be a better idea than just another Creation comp with the songs in a different order. Hopefully, at the very least, they'll do what Nectar did and add a handful of rare tracks at the end.
