As odd as it may sound, I'd like to hear Tori Amos cover one of these fine songs...she just did wonders with The Stranglers - Strange Little girl...anyone hear that yet?

And please, lets leave Whitney RIGHT OUT of this... :)

That's a great choice but I wonder if it might not sound too much like the original. Natalie Merchant would be good though. I can hear that great guitar player she has just doing wonders with it as well. Of course, if irony is your bit, well then it must be Whitney Houston.
