No rant - Just a little information...
Being that I have a web page of Jazz Butcher recording variations, as soon as I heard about the new release I e-mailed Vinyl Japan asking if they would include the 12" version of "Roadrunner" instead of the version which was included on the Gift of Music CD. The CD version ends a bit abruptly and the 12" version does not. Here is the response I received:
"In answer to your query about Roadrunner - we have taken this from the original album DAT so I imagine it's the same as the CD rather than the 12". As the album has already been mastered we will not be able to change that now - sorry but we can only master from what we're given!"
So they were given a DAT source from someone. Perhaps David W or Pat himself would need to give us the answer. If they had to take the rare stuff from vinyl, it can be fine if done with care and the right tools.

PS: Thanks to Vinyl Japan for more JBC!

Just a couple of quick questions regarding the Vinyl Japan releases.
- Did Vinyl Japan have the master tapes for these reissues, or are they mastering them off the Glass CDs?
- If it's CDs, are the Cake City tracks that haven't been on CD before mastered from vinyl?
Not a criticism, just questions.
Ok, possibly a criticism. If I’m putting out my hard earned cash for a CD of previously issued material, I’d like to know from what source/sources they mastered it. Otherwise I might be buying vinyl transferred to CD that I already have on vinyl. I can do that transfer myself and save my money for the next album of new material.
