Amoeba anywhere is overwhelming, but lotsa fun. Plan several visits, eat beforehand. Rasputin over near the Berk Amoeba is good too...and Saturn in Oakland is great for jazz.
My favorite of all is Down Home Music in El Cerrito (tons and tons of traditional stuff).
