Likewise in Seattle, also 12 years ago - almost to the day, in fact. His first show here, which I'm very happy to say I helped make happen :-). I think he had some other politicians in there as well, and almost certainly Nancy Reagan's name was mentioned (in her red and black pajamas, don't ya know) ;-).
Gawds, just the mention of songs from this era brings back memories! In particular, the smell of decaying maple leaves on the U of W campus in the fall, when I used to go around in headphones between classes listening to "Bath of Bacon" and "A Scandal in Bohemia"! You know, it's one of those things that gets ingrained in your cellular memory, like 'new PeeCee smell' always signalled the start of a new school year :-).
