Just trawled through the summer's mail. Intriguing.
- It may interest you to know that almost everyone who's ever been involved in the JBC considers
that it reached its zenith on Condition Blue (the nadirs being any record with a pale blue cover produced by John Rivers).
- The Stone Roses, eh? Have a word with yourself. No-one's pointed out that Pulp's "Babies", fine
song though it is, is simply "Partytime" speeded up and fucked over a little.
- We don't like Animals That Swim or Jack. We like Tokyo Ghetto Pussy.

• The Majorca show. "?" is the setlist was Take the Skinheads Bowling Golly, we had a fine time. Playing in a town square is always great, 'cause the bars all do a roaring trade all night, and are eternally grateful to you afterwards. We had to be carried to the airport in buckets the following morning. Max's first JBC show for ten years was a stormer and, considering how it was the first time in several months the rest of us had been near a stage, too, the whole thing was rather splendid (3 encs). Actually, I had been holding out on y'all about it. . . I've known we were gonna do it for months but I didn't see the point in telling you. . . you'd only have gotten jealous. And I shouldn't hold out much hope for Jimmy's recollections of the night. . . I'd be surprised if he remembers a damn thing.

SUMOSONIC SHIT
Creation tell us that Come, Friendly Spacemen will be released on November 4th in the UK. I fully expect this'll be put back at least once, but it should be out before Christmas. The artwork's already on my living room wall. We're working on some new stuff at the moment, for B-sides or extra album tracks (depending on how good thet turn out) - working titles are "Twinkle", "Attack", "Supertraffic", and "Dr. Anthrax". We've also got a cover version comng along, but none of you (and I mean NONE of you) will know the original song (it's called "Hey Star") so, heck. Furthermore, we're trying to put a live line-up together, but what and who we have on stage will depend so much on our budget, and we will have no idea of that until we find out whether anyone wants to buy the single. . . basically it's gonna be Ian and Kathie out front, singing, myself and a bassist skulking in the shadows having a bit of a twang, Russell doing his world of percussion thing on an enormous pedestal, and Pat stalking the stage, playing and singing like a mad hybrid of Geoff Barrow, Karel Von Daemmerung, Flavor Flav and Steve Cropper. Maybe keyboards, maybe live drums. . . we'll just have to wait and see. So, anyway, we ain't inactive. I know that all this shit is taking a while to get going, but I'm afraid it's simply because there's just so much that so many people have to do before it's done. I think it'll be worth waiting for but, then, I would.

Well, that would appear to be the end of my briefing. I'm contactable here for the rest of the year, so if there's anything I've missed, I'm sure I'll hear about it.
